What the Wealthy Power Elite
Don't Want You to Know

Shifting From Left-Right To Top-Bottom

"As the right blames the left and the left fights the right, the people at the top have a great laugh as their wealth and economic clout increases above the rest of us by leaps and bounds. What would happen if left and right stopped fighting against each other? What if instead conservatives and liberals worked together not only to reveal how the wealthy banksters and power elite have corrupted our institutions for their own benefit, but also to restore quality education for our children and transform our world?"

Dear friends,

Have you noticed how the media and politicians subtly and not-so-subtly encourage us to focus on the split between left and right? People are divided into conservative and liberal camps to duke it out and see who comes out on top. When the Republicans come out on top and control political power in the US, for example, all our problems are blamed on their conservative agenda. When the Democrats then take control, our problems are blamed on their leftist policies. Yet somehow the people at the top always come out richer. It's called "divide and conquer" and is a tactic that has been used by the power elite of our world for centuries.

What would happen if instead of left and right, we chose to focus on the split between top and bottom? What if we prioritized pointing out the differences between the power elite and the rest of us? Taking the U.S. as an example, a recent Washington Post article revealed that "the top 1 percent now accounts for 23.5 percent of the national income if you include capital gains. In 1979, they only had 9.8 percent of the nation's earnings. During that same period, tax rates on the richest Americans have actually dropped. So as the economy went one way -- toward more money going to the rich -- the tax system went the other."

Talking about the effect of the recent economic turmoil, even the New York Times commented in a rare article just two weeks ago that "recessions are for the little people, not for the corporate chiefs and the titans of Wall Street who are at the heart of the American aristocracy. They have waged economic warfare against everybody else and are winning big time. The ranks of the poor may be swelling and families forced out of their foreclosed homes may be enduring a nightmarish holiday season, but American companies have just experienced their most profitable quarter ever."

A San Francisco Chronicle article pointed out that "income in America is now more concentrated in fewer hands than it has been in 80 years." BusinessWeek confirmed, "the statistics underscore two long-term trends: that income at the very top has exploded and their taxes have been cut dramatically." So as the right blames the left and the left fights the right, the people at the top have a great laugh as their wealth and economic clout increases above the rest of us by leaps and bounds.

Consider what would happen if left and right stopped fighting against each other? What if instead conservatives and liberals worked together not only to reveal how the wealthy banksters and power elite have corrupted our institutions for their own benefit, but also to restore quality education for our children and transform our world? What if we stopped looking for enemies and instead looked for friends on both sides of the left-right spectrum to build a world where all can benefit and have equal opportunities for success?

The network of PEERS empowerment websites has strong supporters from both the left and right. We have always been dedicated to building bridges between these two and to helping people to see that when we rise above our differences, we can more effectively work together for our common good and join in exposing all that is being hidden from the public. By joining forces, we can build a brighter future for us all.

Requesting Your Support

We invite you join us in this worthy endeavor and to support our work and spread the word in whatever way you can, so that we can be more effective in bringing left and right together to make positive changes in our world. We do our best not to inundate you with requests for donations, yet a few times a year it is important to request your help. As we enter this holiday season and move towards the end of the year, we ask that you consider now two ways you might support our work: donations and our amazon.com link.

Thanks to the wonderful volunteer support we receive, PEERS, the dedicated nonprofit organization which manages all or our empowering websites, is able to operate on a shoestring budget. Almost all of our funds come from the generosity of caring people like you who believe in our work and send in donations. This outpouring of support has helped to bring over two million visits to our websites this year.

I want to sincerely thank all of you who have supported us in the past. You have enabled us to grow and to really make a difference in our world. Whether you have donated in the past or not, I invite you to help us now to reach our goals. We are still short about $7,000 of our budget goal for the year of $35,000. I ask you to consider the value of our work both to you personally and to our world. Then ask yourself, is the work of PEERS worth the price of a good book or a good meal in a restaurant to you? I encourage you to donate that amount or more to support our work. Even a small contribution makes a difference to us.

As PEERS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. To contribute using your credit card online, please visit the link below to make a one-time donation. Or consider giving the valuable gift of a monthly donation at the links further down. Note that at the link immediately below, you must first enter the dollar amount, and then click "Update." And for those who make a major contribution, we have a special invitation you can learn about here.

Amazon.com Link

Another way you can support our work is through using our amazon.com link. Amazon has a great program where PEERS earns a percentage of anything you buy there without costing you anything extra. Simply by entering the amazon.com website using a link with a code in the URL identifying that we referred you, PEERS gets 4 to 8% of the sale. If you shop at amazon.com and want to support us at no extra cost to yourself, please bookmark or favorite the webpage URL below and use it any time you want to search for and purchase something on amazon.com.

As long as you start at the amazon search page at the link above, you can search for anything and add any number of items to your cart and PEERS will automatically receive a percentage of the total purchase price. Please note though, that you will not receive notification of this. Thanks to our many supporters who are using this link, we've earned over $1,500 since we started this program last December. What a great way for you to support us without spending an extra penny! It's only a few percent of our budget, yet every little bit helps.

Thank you so much for your support. Your generosity is greatly appreciated in these exciting and transformational times. Together we can help to heal the split between left and right and create a new paradigm for our world which supports all members of our human family. Take care.

With sacred love and warmest holiday wishes,
Fred Burks for the inspiring and educational PEERS websites
