Imagine a new, potent generation of solar panels capable of producing unlimited amounts of energy, using only sunshine and algae. They were able to split water into its components, oxygen and hydrogen, using what is known as semi-artificial photosynthesis. During evolution, this process has been deactivated because it wasn’t necessary for survival, but we successfully managed to bypass the inactivity to [split] water into hydrogen and oxygen."
